FamilyTree Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how FamilyTree handles local family data, relationship mapping, imported files, member photos or videos, QR transfer, and technical diagnostics.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the Android application FamilyTree, published by Kayzit. It covers the features currently available in the app, including local family-tree editing, relationship management, member profiles, notes, image or video memories, import or export, QR transfer, and support or diagnostics flows.

2. Data the app can access

3. Local-first storage and sharing

FamilyTree is designed primarily as a local-first app. Your tree data, notes, and member memories are stored on your device in local app-managed storage unless you explicitly export or share them.

FamilyTree does not currently require an account for core usage and does not provide automatic cloud sync in the current implementation.

4. Permissions and platform flows

Photo and video access

Used only when you intentionally select media to attach to a family member.

Camera access

Used only when you scan QR codes for FamilyTree transfer flows.

Internet and platform services

Used for diagnostics, store links, support email, and browser flows that you explicitly trigger.

5. Import, export, and QR transfer

When you export JSON, CSV, GEDCOM, or generate a QR transfer session, FamilyTree creates outputs only because you intentionally start those actions. Exported files or transferred data can leave the app only through the destination or channel you choose.

If you use the in-app "Delete all data" action, FamilyTree removes the local tree inside the app. Files you previously exported outside the app are not deleted by that action.

6. Retention and deletion

FamilyTree keeps local tree data, member media, and related app-managed files on your device until you delete them, clear app data, uninstall the app, or overwrite the local tree through your own import actions.

7. Family and children's privacy considerations

You are responsible for making sure you have the right to store, manage, or share information and memories about relatives, children, or other people represented in your family tree. FamilyTree is not designed as a public social network or a public publishing service in its current implementation.

8. Changes to this policy

Kayzit may update this Privacy Policy when FamilyTree changes. The latest version will stay available at this URL.
